setting up your tutor rates

We allow our tutors to set their own hourly rates. However, some tutors struggle to decide how much to charge, particularly when setting up their tutor accounts.

If charging high, justify! A qualified teacher with many years of experience and top reviews will likely charge more than a recently qualified student with a year’s tutoring experience. It is important to bear in mind that clients often have a budget in mind and, while some students may be able to afford lessons over $60 an hour, setting a rate that high removes a large pool of potential clients.

On average, the price range for tutors is between $25 and £60 an hour, but you can charge between $20-$90 per hour. Newer tutors will find they do better charging $25 an hour whilst experienced and well-qualified tutors will get plenty of interest charging $60. We recommend you charge within this range initially as you can always increase or decrease your hourly rate at a later date.
